Plainsboro Rescue Squad
Now in existence for over 40 years, the Plainsboro Rescue Squad continues to respond to any medical emergency during week nights and all day on weekends, in Plainsboro and neighboring communities (including South Brunswick, West Windsor, Princeton Junction, East Windsor, Cranbury and Princeton). The Squad also serves with standby ambulance service for sporting and community events and responds to requests from the nearby communities if need arises. The Squad operates 3 ambulances.
Plainsboro Rescue Squad is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and is staffed entirely by highly motivated and trained volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and trainees who live in the community. The volunteer staff, all unpaid, commit over 30,000 hours a year to this service, at no cost to the community. Volunteers answer calls, service the equipment, and receive additional training on their own personal time. While the Squad members have various reasons for being part of the Squad, they like what they do and get great satisfaction from serving the community when they are needed the most.
The Squad relies on donations from residents, various grants and gifts from local businesses. It is funded entirely by voluntary contributions from individuals and organizations. Everything from ambulances to uniforms, medical supplies, training and oxygen is paid for by donations and charitable grants.
There is no charge for the Squad’s services, and the patients are not billed – even for the supplies used for treatment and transportation.
